Training young vines
The classical form
In practice the cordon is allowed to extend for a second row trained to a trellis wire about 2 feet above.
When to begin
Training needs to be done after first season of growth to approximate the desired shape, but sometimes this gets delayed.
Then it's necessary to take some changes on re-training them.
No training
This is an untrained grape vine. It's future would likely show poorer production and lower quality grapes.
Multiple stems from the crown of the plant, extending to the trellis wires.
