Slugs and snails

This must have been a slug convention! One of my gardens has very few of these natives of the Pacific Northwest. And I don't miss them.

Another garden is apparently slug heaven with the heaviest slug infestation I have seen.

Controlling slugs and snails

Sluggo

This commercial product is suitable for organic gardens and helps keep slugs at bay, but it isn't a panacea. Some silly slugs would rather snack on green plants than the slug bait.

Dry perimeter

When the weather is dry slugs are less likely to cross a dust mulch, so I maintain a weed-free perimeter around garden plots likely for slug attack. This works surprisingly well until rain and cool weather come and moisten the perimeter. Then it's back to applications of Sluggo and recreating the dust mulch.
