I mixed compost cured for two years (or more) into one raised bed, where I intended to sow corn seeds. I didn't remember composting any other types of squash that our favorite winter squash, Gill's Golden Pippen, so I must have been mistaken - see the following!
A few squash grew into this familiar shape, which is what I expected. They look like Gill's Golden Pippen, which is our favorite winter squash, a perfect substitute for a larger acorn squash. I had received fresh seeds for this year, but with (apparently) so many seedlings, I thought I would simply save the seeds and transplant the seedlings!
