===== Transplanting composted seedlings ===== ==== I know those seedlings! ==== {{ :garden:about:plants:fake_squash:img_6737.jpeg?direct&160|Seedlings from compost}}I mixed compost cured for two years (or more) into one raised bed, where I intended to sow corn seeds. I didn't remember composting any other types of squash that our favorite winter squash, Gill's Golden Pippen, so I must have been mistaken - see the following!\\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ ==== This is what I intended! ==== {{ :garden:about:plants:fake_squash:img_6844.jpeg?direct&160|This is what many of them were!}}A few squash grew into this familiar shape, which is what I expected. They look like Gill's Golden Pippen, which is our favorite winter squash, a perfect substitute for a larger acorn squash. I had received fresh seeds for this year, but with (apparently) so many seedlings, I thought I would simply save the seeds and transplant the seedlings!\\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ \\ ==== This is what I got! ==== {{ :garden:about:plants:fake_squash:img_6829.jpeg?direct&160|This is what came out of the compost!}}Many grew up to look liked these. I haven't been able to find a photo that identifies the type of squash! Possibly some type of yellow scallop variety?\\ \\ \\ \\ \\
