The “farm” is on property near the Snoqualmie river. The soil there is heavy clay, deposited by flooding. Because this land is several hundred yards from the river, sand and silt have already dropped out, leaving the lighter, finer clay to settle on the ground. I have used cover crops, compost and soil remineralization to improve the soil.
