Hoop house
We lost most of our 2013 harvest to blight so we were careful. The hoop house is the cornerstone of our strategy to:
- Increase the average temperature plants experience
- Keep airborne fungi that creates late season blight from getting to the tomato plants
In the hoop house we planted three varieties of tomato and several of sweet peppers. The tomatoes were Brandywine, Romalina and an unnamed golden tomato we are developing. We grew Poblano, Anaheim and California Wonder peppers.
First I built the hoop house using the kit for 10'X10' modular gothic greenhouse using 1“ EMT tubing from the Original Greenhouse Hoop Bender website. I built two of these units and joined them with additional conduit, so the length of the hoop house is 22 1/2 feet.

One of our gardens is near the Snoqualmie river northwest of Fall city, where we cultivate 4,000 square feet.
