WSU Extension provides an online calculator of soil moisture requirements based on a variety of environmental conditions and plant stages at http://weather.wsu.edu/ism/index.php?m=1. Using it in my garden at the farm based on my interpretations of the various parameters let to over-watering. I intend to refine my understanding of this interesting tool next season
