Winter is here! I anticipated a 28 degree temperature so I bought 3 bales of straw and spread them over the dahlias and the strawberries. Good timing because that evening the temperature dropped to 25 degrees! The oats and tillage radish are still doing well. In fact, this is the most extensive cover crop I have managed to grow at this time of the year consisting of every variety I had in storage (oat, radish, field pea, triticale, vetch and crimson clover). Inside the hoop house I have lettuce, radish and spinach as an experimental cold season garden.
